Inspection Procedure

  1. CHECK VACUUM SWITCHING VALVE (VSV FOR AIR INTAKE CONTROL VALVE) 
    1. Inspect the VSV for air intake control valve (See ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION ).

    NG: REPLACE VSV (FOR AIR INTAKE CONTROL VALVE) 

    OK: Go to next step 

  2. INSPECT TERMINAL VOLTAGE (VSV FOR AIR INTAKE CONTROL VALVE CONNECTOR) 
    1. Disconnect the VSV for air intake control valve connector
    2. Turn the engine switch on (IG).
    3. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below

      Standard Voltage 

      TESTER CONNECTION SPECIFIED CONDITION CHART

      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      2 - Body ground Engine switch on (IG) 11 to 14 V
    4. Reconnect the VSV connector.

    NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR (EFI NO. 2 FUSE - VSV FOR AIR INTAKE CONTROL VALVE) 

    OK: Go to next step 

  3. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (VSV FOR AIR INTAKE CONTROL VALVE - ECM) 
    1. Disconnect the VSV for air intake control valve connector
    2. Disconnect the ECM connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below

      Standard Resistance (Check for Open) 

      TESTER CONNECTION SPECIFIED CONDITION CHART

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      A60-1 (VSV for AICV) - E3-8 (AICV) Always Below 1 Ω

      Standard Resistance (Check for Short) 

      TESTER CONNECTION SPECIFIED CONDITION CHART

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      A60-1 (VSV for AICV) or E3-8 (AICV) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
    4. Reconnect the ECM connector
    5. Reconnect the VSV connector

    NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR (VSV FOR AIR INTAKE CONTROL VALVE - ECM) 

    OK: Go to next step 

  4. INSPECT AIR INTAKE CONTROL VALVE 
    1. Inspect the intake air control valve

    NG: REPLACE AIR CLEANER CASE 

    OK: REPLACE ECM  (See REMOVAL  )
