Camshaft Timing Control Motor: Removal

  1. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL 
    CAUTION: Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.
    NOTE: When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected (See INITIALIZATION ).

    HINT:

    Disconnect the cable from the from the negative (-) battery terminal so that the maximum retard angle of the cam timing control with EDU motor assembly will be learned.

  2. REMOVE V-BANK COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY  (See REMOVAL )
  3. REMOVE CAMSHAFT TIMING CONTROL WITH EDU MOTOR LH ASSEMBLY 
    1. Disconnect the engine wire clamp.

    2. Disconnect the 2 connectors from the camshaft timing control with EDU motor and engine wire clamp.

    3. Remove the 3 bolts and the camshaft timing control with EDU motor LH assembly

    4. Remove the 0-ring from the timing chain cover
  4. REMOVE AIR CLEANER CAP SUB-ASSEMBLY  (See REMOVAL  )

  5. REMOVE CAMSHAFT TIMING CONTROL WITH EDU MOTOR RH ASSEMBLY 
    1. Disconnect the 2 connectors from the camshaft timing control with EDU motor and engine wire clamp.

    2. Remove the bolt and engine wire bracket.

    3. Remove the 3 bolts and camshaft timing control motor.

    4. Remove the O-ring from the timing chain cover.
