Rear Speed Sensor: Removal

NOTE: While the battery is connected, even if the engine switch is off, the brake control system activates when the brake pedal is depressed or the door courtesy switch turns on. Therefore during servicing of the brake system components, do not operate the brake pedal and open/close the doors while the battery is connected.

HINT:

  1. REMOVE COWL TOP VENTILATOR LOUVER RH  (See REMOVAL )
  2. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL 
    CAUTION: Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to prevent airbag and seat belt pretensioner activation.
    NOTE: After the engine switch is turned off, the HDD navigation system requires approximately 6 minutes to record various types of memory and settings. As a result, after turning the engine switch off, wait 6 minutes or more before disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.
  3. REMOVE LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT MAT SUB-ASSEMBLY  (See REMOVAL )
  4. REMOVE ROPE HOOK ASSEMBLY  (See REMOVAL )
  5. REMOVE ROPE HOOK  (See REMOVAL )
  6. REMOVE DECK TRIM SIDE BOARD RH  (See REMOVAL )
  7. REMOVE DECK TRIM SIDE BOARD LH  (See REMOVAL )
  8. REMOVE LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT NO. 1 LIGHT ASSEMBLY  (See REMOVAL )
  9. REMOVE LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT NO. 2 TRIM HOOK (w/o Rear Cooler)  (See REMOVAL )
  10. REMOVE NO. 1 COOLER COVER (w/ Rear Cooler)  (See REMOVAL )
  11. REMOVE LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT TRIM COVER FRONT  (See REMOVAL )
  12. REMOVE REAR FLOOR FINISH PLATE  (See REMOVAL )
  13. REMOVE LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT TRIM COVER ASSEMBLY LH  (See REMOVAL )
  14. REMOVE LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT TRIM COVER ASSEMBLY RH  (See REMOVAL )
  15. REMOVE REAR WHEEL 
  16. REMOVE SKID CONTROL SENSOR WIRE 
    1. Disconnect the sensor connector (labeled A).

    2. Disconnect the grommet (labeled B) of the speed sensor wire from the hole of the wheel house.

    3. Except for RH side of models with coil spring type suspension:
      1. Disconnect the rear height control sensor connector (labeled C).
      2. Remove the nut (labeled D) and sensor clamp (labeled E).
    4. Remove the nut (labeled F) and sensor clamp (labeled G).

    5. for RH:

      Disconnect the pad wear indicator connector (labeled H).

    6. Remove the bolt (labeled I) and sensor clamp (labeled J).
    7. Disconnect the connector (labeled K) from the rear speed sensor.
      NOTE:
      • Be careful not to damage the speed sensor.
      • Prevent foreign matter from adhering to the speed sensor.
  17. REMOVE REAR SPEED SENSOR 
    1. Remove the bolt and sensor.
      NOTE:
      • The rear speed sensor is easily damaged. When pulling out the rear speed sensor from the rear axle hub RH, do not use excessive force to rotate and remove it.
      • Prevent foreign matter from attaching to the sensor tip.
