Front Speed Sensor: Installation

NOTE: While the battery is connected, even if the engine switch is off, the brake control system activates when the brake pedal is depressed or the door courtesy switch turns on. Therefore during servicing of the brake system components, do not operate the brake pedal and open/close the doors while the battery is connected.

HINT:

  1. INSTALL FRONT AXLE HUB SUB-ASSEMBLY 

    HINT:

    The front speed sensor is a component of the front axle hub sub-assembly. If the sensor malfunctions, replace the front axle hub sub-assembly.

    1. Install the front axle hub (see INSTALLATION ).
  2. CHECK FRONT AXLE HUB BEARING LOOSENESS  (See REMOVAL )
  3. CHECK FRONT AXLE HUB RUNOUT  (See REMOVAL )
  4. INSTALL FRONT DISC  (See INSTALLATION )
  5. CONNECT FRONT DISC BRAKE CALIPER ASSEMBLY  (See INSTALLATION )
  6. INSTALL SKID CONTROL SENSOR WIRE 
    1. for LH:

      Connect the connector (labeled A) to the front speed sensor.

    2. for RH:
      1. Connect the connector (labeled A) to the front speed sensor.
      2. Install the sensor clamp (labeled B) with the bolt (labeled C).

        Torque: 8.5 N*m (87 kgf*cm, 75 in.*lbf) 

      3. Connect the pad wear indicator connector (labeled D).

    3. Install the 2 sensor clamps (labeled E) with the 2 bolts (labeled F).

      Torque: 8.5 N*m (87 kgf*cm, 75 in.*lbf) 

      NOTE: Do not twist the sensor wire when installing the clamps.

    4. Install the sensor clamp (labeled G) with the bolt (labeled H).

      Torque: 8.5 N*m (87 kgf*cm, 75 in.*lbf) 

      NOTE: Do not twist the sensor wire when installing the clamp.
    5. Attach the sensor clip (labeled I).
    6. Connect the sensor connector (labeled J).
    7. Connect the front fender liner.

  7. INSTALL FRONT WHEEL 

    Torque: 140 N*m (1428 kgf*cm, 103 ft.*lbf) 

  8. CONNECT CABLE TO NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL 
  9. INSTALL COWL TOP VENTILATOR LOUVER RH  (See INSTALLATION )
  10. PERFORM INITIALIZATION 
    1. Perform initialization (see INITIALIZATION ).
      NOTE: Certain systems need to be initialized after disconnecting and reconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.
  11. CHECK SPEED SENSOR SIGNAL 
    1. Check the speed sensor signal (see TEST MODE PROCEDURE  ).
