Ignition Coil And Spark Plug: Installation

NOTE: While the battery is connected, even if the power switch is OFF, the brake control system activates when the brake pedal is depressed or the door courtesy switch turns on. Therefore during servicing of the brake system components, do not operate the brake pedal or open/ close the doors while the battery is connected.

  1. INSTALL SPARK PLUG 
    1. Using a 16 mm plug wrench, install the 8 spark plugs

      Torque: 18 N*m (179 kgf*cm, 13 ft.*lbf)

  2. INSTALL IGNITION COIL ASSEMBLY 
    1. Visual check the spark plug tube gasket.

      OK 

      INSPECTION CHART

      Inspection Area Specified Condition
      Upper surface No scratches or deformation
      Outer lip No scratches or deformation
      Inner lip No scratches

      If the result is not as specified, replace the spark plug tube gasket

    2. Slide the spark plug tube gasket onto the ignition coil as shown in the illustration.

    3. After installing the spark plug tube gasket, firmly insert the ignition coil as shown in the illustration.

    4. Install the 8 bolts.

      Torque: 10 N*m (102 kgf*cm, 7 ft.*lbf) 

    5. Connect the 8 ignition coil connectors

  3. INSTALL NO. 6 COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY 
  4. INSTALL ENGINE COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY LH  (See INSTALLATION )
  5. INSTALL NO. 5 COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY 
  6. INSTALL ENGINE COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY RH  (See INSTALLATION )
  7. INSTALL ENGINE OIL LEVEL DIPSTICK GUIDE  (See INSTALLATION )
  8. INSTALL SKID CONTROL ECU BRACKET  (See INSTALLATION )
  9. CONNECT BRAKE FLUID RESERVOIR  (See INSTALLATION )
  10. CONNECT NO. 3 RELAY BLOCK  (See INSTALLATION )
  11. INSTALL SKID CONTROL ECU  (See INSTALLATION )
  12. CONNECT NO. 1 MOTOR COOLING PIPE  (See INSTALLATION )
  13. CONNECT FRAME WIRE 
    1. Attach the 2 claws of the frame wire to the No. 1 relay block
    2. Install the frame wire to the No. 1 relay block with the 2 nuts

      Torque: 13 N*m (130 kgf*cm, 10 ft.*lbf) 

    3. Install the No 1 relay block cover

  14. CONNECT INLET INVERTER COOLING PIPE 
    1. Install the cooling pipe with the 2 bolts.

      Torque: 13 N*m (127 kgf*cm, 9 ft.*lbf)

  15. CONNECT GENERATOR CABLE  (See INSTALLATION )
  16. CONNECT MOTOR CABLE  (See INSTALLATION )
  17. INSTALL INVERTER TERMINAL COVER  (See INSTALLATION )
  18. INSTALL INVERTER COVER ASSEMBLY RH  (See INSTALLATION )
  19. INSTALL MOTOR CABLE COVER RH  (See INSTALLATION )
  20. INSTALL COWL TOP VENTILATOR LOUVER RH  (See INSTALLATION )
  21. INSTALL AIR CLEANER ASSEMBLY RH  (See INSTALLATION )
  22. INSTALL AIR CLEANER ASSEMBLY LH  (See INSTALLATION )
  23. INSTALL INTAKE AIR CONNECTOR PIPE  (See INSTALLATION )
  24. INSTALL NO. 1 AIR CLEANER INLET  (See INSTALLATION )
  25. INSTALL SERVICE PLUG GRIP  (See INSTALLATION )
  26. CONNECT CABLE TO NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL 
    NOTE: When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected (see INITIALIZATION ).
  27. INSTALL BATTERY SERVICE HOLE COVER LH  (See INSTALLATION )
  28. INSTALL LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT MAT SUB-ASSEMBLY  (See INSTALLATION )
  29. INSTALL ENGINE ROOM SIDE COVER LH  (See INSTALLATION )
  30. INSTALL ENGINE ROOM SIDE COVER RH  (See INSTALLATION )
  31. INSTALL AIR CLEANER INLET COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY  (See INSTALLATION )
