Intake Manifold: Removal

  1. REMOVE ENGINE ROOM SIDE COVER LH  (See REMOVAL )
  2. REMOVE ENGINE ROOM SIDE COVER RH  (See REMOVAL )
  3. REMOVE UPPER RADIATOR SUPPORT SEAL  (See REMOVAL )
  4. REMOVE V-BANK COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY  (See REMOVAL )
  5. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL 
    NOTE:
    • When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected (See INITIALIZATION ).
    • w/ Navigation System:

      After the engine switch is turned off, the HDD navigation system requires approximately 6 minutes to record various types of memory and settings. As a result, after turning the engine switch off, wait 6 minutes or more before disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.

  6. REMOVE COWL TOP VENTILATOR LOUVER SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the cowl top ventilator louver (See REMOVAL ).
  7. REMOVE FRONT FENDER SPLASH SHIELD SUB-ASSEMBLY LH  (See REMOVAL )
  8. REMOVE FRONT FENDER SPLASH SHIELD SUB-ASSEMBLY RH  (See REMOVAL )
  9. REMOVE NO. 1 ENGINE UNDER COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY  (See REMOVAL  )
  10. DRAIN ENGINE COOLANT  (See REPLACEMENT )
  11. REMOVE AIR CLEANER HOSE ASSEMBLY 
    1. Disconnect the vacuum hose and No. 2 ventilation hose.
    2. Loosen the 2 hose clamps.
    3. Remove the air cleaner hose.

  12. REMOVE INTAKE MANIFOLD 
    1. Disconnect the ventilation hose from the ventilation pipe of the cylinder head cover LH and RH.

    2. Disconnect the 2 water by-pass hoses.
    3. Disconnect the throttle body connector.

    4. Disconnect the No. 1 ventilation hose.

    5. Disconnect the purge VSV connector.
    6. Disconnect the purge line hose from the purge VSV.
    7. Disconnect the vacuum switching valve connector (for ACIS).

    8. Remove the No. 1 engine cover sub-assembly.

    9. Remove the No. 3 engine cover.

    10. Disconnect the 3 wire clamps from the 3 wire brackets.

    11. Remove the bolt and wire bracket from the intake manifold.

    12. Remove the 2 nuts, 8 bolts, intake manifold and 2 gaskets.

  13. REMOVE VENTILATION HOSE ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the 2 bolts and ventilation hose from the intake manifold.

  14. REMOVE NO. 1 V-BANK COVER BRACKET 
    1. Remove the 2 bolts and bracket.

  15. REMOVE V-BANK COVER BOLT 
    1. Remove the cover bolt from the intake manifold.

  16. REMOVE NO. 2 V-BANK COVER BRACKET SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the bolt and bracket.

  17. REMOVE THROTTLE BODY ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the 4 bolts, throttle body and gasket.

  18. REMOVE VACUUM SWITCHING VALVE ASSEMBLY (for ACIS) 
    1. Disconnect the 2 vacuum hoses from the vacuum switching valve.
    2. Remove the bolt and vacuum switching valve.

  19. REMOVE PURGE VSV 
    1. Disconnect the purge line hose from the intake manifold.
    2. Remove the bolt and purge VSV.

  20. REMOVE WIRE HARNESS CLAMP BRACKET 
    1. Remove the 2 bolts and 2 wire harness clamp brackets.
