Section 17 (Engine Control System): ECM: Removal

  1. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL 
    CAUTION: Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to prevent airbag and seat belt pretensioner activation.
  2. REMOVE ECM BOX COVER 
    1. Remove the 3 bolts and ECM box cover.
      NOTE:
      • Make sure there is no water and / or foreign matter around the ECM box cover.
      • Perform the inspection indoors to avoid rain.
      • Prevent water from contacting the ECM's connectors and screw areas.

  3. REMOVE ECM 
    1. Disconnect the 5 ECM connectors.
    2. Remove the 2 nuts and ECM from the ECM box.
