Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor: Installation

  1. INSTALL ENGINE COOLANT TEMPERATURE SENSOR 
    1. Install a new gasket to the engine coolant temperature sensor.
    2. Using a 19 mm ball joint lock nut wrench, install the sensor.

      Torque: with ball joint lock nut wrench 13 N*m (133 kgf*cm, 10 ft.*lbf) 

      without ball joint lock nut wrench 20 N*m (200 kgf*cm, 14 ft.*lbf) 

      NOTE: Do not use a tool such as an impact wrench or equivalent.

      HINT:

      • Use a torque wrench with a fulcrum length of 300 mm (11.8 in.).
      • Make sure the ball joint lock nut wrench and torque wrench are connected in a straight line.
    3. Connect the engine coolant temperature sensor connector.

  2. ADD ENGINE COOLANT  (See REPLACEMENT )
  3. INSPECT FOR COOLANT LEAK  (See ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION )
  4. INSTALL INTAKE AIR CONNECTOR PIPE  (See INSTALLATION )
  5. INSTALL NO. 1 AIR CLEANER INLET  (See INSTALLATION )
  6. INSTALL AIR CLEANER INLET COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY  (See INSTALLATION )
  7. INSTALL V-BANK COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY  (See INSTALLATION )
  8. INSTALL NO. 1 ENGINE UNDER COVER  (See REPLACEMENT )
