Engine Control System (Service Information): ECM: Removal: Removal

  1. REMOVE LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT MAT SUB-ASSEMBLY  . Refer to REMOVAL - Step 3
  2. REMOVE DECK TRIM SIDE BOARD LH (w/o Spare Tire)  . Refer to REMOVAL - Step 4
  3. REMOVE BATTERY SERVICE HOLE COVER LH  . Refer to REMOVAL - Step 5
  4. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL 
    NOTE:
    • w/ Navigation System (for HDD):

      After the power switch is turned off, the display and navigation module display (HDD navigation system) records various types of memory and settings. As a result, after turning the power switch off, be sure to wait for the time specified in the following table before disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.

      Waiting Time before Disconnecting Cable from Negative (-) Battery Terminal

      Condition Waiting Time
      Vehicle enrolled in safety connect system 6 minutes
      Vehicle not enrolled in safety connect system 1 minute
    • When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected. Refer to INITIALIZATION .
  5. REMOVE AIR CLEANER INLET COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY  . Refer to REMOVAL - Step 9
  6. REMOVE ENGINE ROOM SIDE COVER LH  . Refer to REMOVAL - Step 12
  7. REMOVE ENGINE ROOM ECU COVER

    NOTE:
    • Wipe off any water on or around the ECU cover.
    • Perform these procedures in a dry place away from rain, etc.
    • Do not allow water to enter the ECM through its connectors areas, screw areas, etc.
    1. Remove the 3 bolts and ECU cover.
  8. REMOVE HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU

    1. Disconnect the 4 ECU connectors.
    2. Remove the 2 nuts and ECU.
  9. DISCONNECT NO. 2 CONNECTOR HOLDER 
    1. Disconnect the 2 engine wire connectors.

    2. Disconnect the 2 claws with the connector holder.
  10. REMOVE ECM

    1. Disconnect the 6 ECM connectors.
    2. Remove the 2 nuts and ECM.
    3. Remove the 4 screws and 2 ECM brackets from the ECM.
