Complete all steps in the BASIC TESTING article before proceeding to self-diagnostic tests. Ensure vacuum hoses and EEC-V wiring harnesses are properly connected.

Apply parking brake, and place shift lever in Park. Block drive wheels. Turn off all electrical accessories.
