Test E: Left Rear Window Is Inoperative
NOTE:
Left rear window control switch harness connector C711 is a flat 4-pin connector. Left rear window control switch harness connector C709 is a square 4-pin connector.
- Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Using NGS tester, select and monitor Driver's Door Module (DDM) PID LRPW_SW. Press and release driver's door window control switch left rear window switch in the UP and DOWN position several times. If PID agrees with the switch position, go to next step. If PID does not agree with the switch position, replace driver's door module.
- Attempt to operate left rear window from master window control switch. If left rear window does not operate properly, go to next step. If left rear window operates properly, go to step 9 .
- Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Disconnect left rear window control switch harness connector C711. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Measure voltage at Yellow/Light Blue wire terminal at left rear window control switch harness connector C711 while pressing master window control switch left rear window to UP position. Measure voltage at Gray/Orange wire terminal at left rear window control switch harness connector C711 while pressing master window control switch left rear window to DOWN position. If voltage cycles from zero volts to battery voltage when switches are pressed, go to next step. If voltage does not cycle from zero volts to battery voltage when switches are pressed, go to step 7 .
- Disconnect left rear window control switch harness connector C709. Measure voltage at Yellow/Light Green wire terminal at left rear window control switch harness connector C709. If battery voltage exists, go to next step. If battery voltage does not exist, repair open in Yellow/Light Green wire.
- Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Measure resistance between ground and Black wire terminal at left rear window control switch harness connector C709. If resistance is 5 ohms or less, go to next step. If resistance is greater than 5 ohms, repair open in Black wire.
- Test left rear window control switch. See SINGLE SWITCHES under COMPONENT TESTS. If left rear window control switch is okay, go to step 8 . If left rear window control switch is defective, replace switch.
- Disconnect DDM harness connector C523. Measure resistance in Yellow/Light Blue wire between terminal No. 1 at DDM harness connector C523 and left rear window control switch harness connector C711. See Fig 1 . Measure resistance in Gray/Orange wire between terminal No. 2 at DDM harness connector C523 and left rear window control switch harness connector C711. If either resistance reading is greater than 5 ohms, repair open in Yellow/Light Blue and/or Gray/Orange wire. If both resistance readings are 5 ohms or less, replace driver's door module.
- Disconnect left rear window motor harness connector C710. Measure resistance in Yellow/Black wire between left rear window control switch harness connector C711 and left rear window motor harness connector C710. Measure resistance in Yellow/Light Blue wire between left rear window control switch harness connector C711 and left rear window motor harness connector C710. If either resistance reading is greater than 5 ohms, repair open in Yellow/Black and/or Yellow/Light Blue wire. If both resistance readings are 5 ohms or less, replace left rear window motor.
- Disconnect left rear window control switch harness connector C711. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Measure voltage at Red/Light Blue wire terminal at left rear window control switch harness connector C711. If battery voltage exists, replace left rear window control switch. If battery voltage does not exist, repair open in Red/Light Blue wire.
