Test G: Right Rear Window Is Inoperative
NOTE:
Right rear window control switch harness connector C809 is a flat 4-pin connector. Right rear window control switch harness connector C811 is a square 4-pin connector.
- Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Using NGS tester, select and monitor Driver's Door Module (DDM) PID RRPW_SW. Press and release master window control switch right rear window switch in the UP and DOWN position several times. If PID agrees with the switch position, go to next step. If PID does not agree with the switch position, replace driver's door module.
- Attempt to operate right rear window from master window control switch. If right rear window does not operate properly, go to next step. If right rear window operates properly, go to step 9 .
- Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Disconnect right rear window control switch harness connector C809. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Measure voltage at Yellow/Black wire terminal at right rear window control switch harness connector C809 while pressing master window control switch right rear window to UP position. Measure voltage at Red/Black wire terminal at right rear window control switch harness connector C809 while pressing master window control switch right rear window to DOWN position. If voltage cycles from zero volts to battery voltage when switch is pressed, go to next step. If voltage does not cycle from zero volts to battery voltage when switch is pressed, go to step 7 .
- Disconnect right rear window control switch harness connector C811. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Measure voltage at Gray/Light Blue wire terminal at right rear window control switch harness connector C811. If battery voltage exists, go to next step. If battery voltage does not exist, go to step 10 .
- Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Measure resistance between ground and Black wire terminal at right rear window control switch harness connector C811. If resistance is 5 ohms or less, go to next step. If resistance is greater than 5 ohms, repair open in Black wire.
- Test right rear window control switch. See SINGLE SWITCHES under COMPONENT TESTS. If right rear window control switch is okay, go to step 8 . If right rear window control switch is defective, replace switch.
- Disconnect DDM harness connector C523. Measure resistance in Yellow/Black wire between terminal No. 8 at DDM harness connector C523 and right rear window control switch harness connector C809. See Figure . Measure resistance in Red/Black wire between terminal No. 7 at DDM harness connector C523 and right rear window control switch harness connector C809. If either resistance reading is greater than 5 ohms, repair open in Yellow/Black and/or Red/Black wire. If both resistance readings are 5 ohms or less, replace driver's door module.
- Disconnect right rear window motor harness connector C810. Measure resistance in Brown/Yellow wire between right rear window control switch harness connector C811 and right rear window motor harness connector C810. Measure resistance in Brown wire between right rear window control switch harness connector C811 and right rear window motor harness connector C810. If either resistance reading is greater than 5 ohms, repair open in Brown/Yellow and/or Brown wire. If both resistance readings are 5 ohms or less, replace right rear window motor.
- Disconnect right rear window control switch harness connector C809. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Measure voltage at Red/Light Blue wire terminal at right rear window control switch harness connector C809. If battery voltage exists, replace right rear window control switch. If battery voltage does not exist, repair open in Red/Light Blue wire.
- Ensure transmission is in Park. Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Remove mini-fuse No. 3 (30-amp) in power distribution box. Check fuse. If fuse is okay, go to next step. If fuse is blown, replace fuse and retest system operation. If new fuse blows, go to step 12 .
- Measure voltage at input side of mini-fuse No. 3 (30-amp) in power distribution box. If battery voltage exists, repair open in Gray/Light Blue wire. If battery voltage does not exist, replace power distribution box.
- Disconnect right rear window control switch harness connector C811. Measure resistance between ground and output side of mini-fuse No. 3 (30-amp) in power distribution box. If resistance is greater than 10 k/ohms, go to next step. If resistance is 10 k/ohms or less, repair short to ground in Gray/Light Blue wire.
- Test right rear window control switch. See SINGLE SWITCHES under COMPONENT TESTS. If right rear window control switch is okay, go to next step. If right rear window control switch is defective, replace switch.
- Disconnect DDM harness connector C523. Measure voltage at Yellow/Black wire terminal at right rear window control switch harness connector C809. Measure voltage at Red/Black wire terminal at right rear window control switch harness connector C809. If voltage does not exist at both terminals, go to next step. If voltage exists at either terminal, repair short to voltage in Yellow/Black and/or Red/Black wire.
- Measure resistance between ground and Yellow/Black wire terminal at right rear window control switch harness connector C809. Measure resistance between ground and Red/Black wire terminal at right rear window control switch harness connector C809. If both resistance readings are greater than 10 k/ohms, go to next step. If either resistance reading is 10 k/ohms or less, repair short to ground in Yellow/Black and/or Red/Black wire.
- Connect DDM harness connector C523. Disconnect right rear window control switch harness connector C811. Measure voltage at Brown wire terminal at right rear window control switch harness connector C811. Measure voltage at Brown/Yellow wire terminal at right rear window control switch harness connector C811. If voltage does not exists at both terminals, go to next step. If voltage exists at either terminal, repair short to voltage in Brown and/or Brown/Yellow wire.
- Disconnect right rear window motor harness connector C810. Measure resistance between ground and Brown wire terminal at right rear window control switch harness connector C811. Measure resistance between ground and Brown/Yellow wire terminal at right rear window control switch harness connector C811. If both resistance readings are greater than 10 k/ohms, replace right rear window motor. If either resistance reading is 10 k/ohms or less, repair short to ground in Brown and/or Brown/Yellow wire.
