Power Window System: Description

Power windows are operated by reversible type motors mounted on each window regulator. Each window has an individual switch. A master switch is located on the driver's door from which both front and rear windows (if equipped) may be controlled. A lock-out switch is incorporated in master switch. When actuated, lock out switch prevents window operation from individual switches. Accessory delay relay allows windows to be operated up to 10 minutes after ignition switch is turned to LOCK position, or until a front door is opened.

All models are equipped with one-touch down feature, allowing the driver to lower the left front window fully by momentarily actuating the driver's window down switch at the master power window switch. To operate left front window in manual down mode, press down switch to first detent. To enter auto down mode, press left front switch to second detent and release. One-touch down will continue until left front switch is pushed to UP position, left front switch is released and pushed to first or second detent, 7 seconds have elapsed since initial one-touch down was initiated or window regulator electric drive stall condition is detected. One-touch down feature is controlled by a Generic Electronic Module (GEM) which incorporates the functions of several different modules into one. GEM has self-diagnostics to help locate concerns affecting the subsystems that it controls.
