Removal & Installation: Notes
WARNING:
Disable air bag system before working around steering column or removing any air bag system component. See appropriate AIR BAG RESTRAINT SYSTEMS article.
CAUTION:
Prior to replacing GEM, it is necessary to upload module configuration information to New Generation STAR (NGS) tester. After installation this information needs to be downloaded into new GEM.
CAUTION:
Electronic modules are sensitive to static electrical charges. Proper grounding of technician and workpiece is essential to prevent damage.
CAUTION:
When battery is disconnected, vehicle computer and memory systems may lose memory data. Driveability problems may exist until computer systems have completed a relearn cycle. See COMPUTER RELEARN PROCEDURES article in GENERAL INFORMATION before disconnecting battery.
