Test F: Driver's Window Inoperative
- Connect New Generation Star (NGS) tester to Data Link Connector (DLC). DLC is located below left side of instrument panel, to right of steering column. Using NGS tester, perform Driver's Door Module (DDM) self-test. If DTC B1405 or B1408 is retrieved, go to next step. If neither DTC B1405 or B1408 is not retrieved, go to step 4 .
- Ensure ignition switch is in LOCK position. Remove and test master window adjust switch. See MASTER WINDOW ADJUST SWITCH under COMPONENT TESTS. If switch is okay, go to next step. If switch is defective, replace master window adjust switch.
- Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Disconnect DDM 26-pin harness connector C501d. DDM is located behind driver's door panel. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Measure voltage between ground and master window adjust switch harness connector C504 terminals No. 6 (Yellow/Red wire) and No. 7 (Yellow/Blue wire). See Figure . If voltage is 10 volts or more at either terminal, repair short to voltage in appropriate wire and go to step 6 . If voltage is less than 10 volts at both terminals, replace DDM.
- Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Ensure NGS tester is properly connected. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Using NGS tester, select DDM active command FRONT WINDOW CONTROL. Trigger DR UP to ON, then OFF. Trigger DR DOWN to ON then OFF. If driver's window raises and lowers, go to next step. If driver's window does not raise and lower, go to step 9 .
- Using NGS tester, monitor DDM PIDs D_UP_SW and D_DN_SW while operating driver's window up and down at master window adjust switch. If PIDs do not agree with switch positions, go to next step. If PIDs agree with master switch positions, replace DDM.
- Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Remove and test master window adjust switch. See MASTER WINDOW ADJUST SWITCH under COMPONENT TESTS. If switch is okay, go to next step. If switch is defective, replace master window adjust switch.
- Disconnect DDM 26-pin harness connector C501d. DDM is located behind drive's door panel. Measure resistance in Yellow/Green wire between master window adjust switch harness connector C504 terminal No. 6 and DDM harness connector C501d terminal No. 20. See Figure and Figure . Measure resistance in Yellow/Black wire between master window adjust switch harness connector C504 terminal No. 7 and DDM harness connector C501d terminal No. 19. If both resistances are less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If either resistance is 5 ohms or more, repair open in appropriate wire between DDM and master window adjust switch.
- Measure resistance between ground and master window adjust switch harness connector C504 terminals No. 6 (Yellow/Green wire) and No. 7 (Yellow/Black wire). If both resistances are 10 k/ohms or more, replace DDM. If either resistance is less than 10 k/ohms, repair short to ground in appropriate wire between DDM and master window adjust switch.
- Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Remove fuse No. 420 (20-amp) from Battery Junction Box (BJB). BJB is located in trunk compartment, next to battery. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Measure voltage between ground and input side of BJB fuse No. 420. If voltage is 10 volts or more, go to next step. If voltage is less than 10 volts, repair power distribution circuit as necessary. See POWER DISTRIBUTION article in WIRING DIAGRAMS.
- Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Disconnect driver's power window motor harness connector C524. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Using NGS tester, select DDM active command FRONT WINDOW CONTROL. Measure voltage between ground and driver's power window motor harness connector C524 White wire terminal while triggering DR DOWN to ON. Record results. Measure voltage between ground and driver's power window motor harness connector C524 Yellow wire terminal while triggering DR UP to ON. If both voltages are 10 volts or more when active command is ON, go to next step. If either voltage is less than 10 volts when active command is ON, go to step 12 .
- Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Disconnect DDM 4-pin harness connector C501b. DDM is located behind drive's door panel. Measure resistance between ground and DDM 4-pin harness connector C501b terminal No. 3 (Black wire). See Figure . If resistance is less than 5 ohms, replace driver's power window motor. If resistance is 5 ohms or more, repair open in ground circuit between DDM and ground. Ground point is located behind driver's side kick panel near front electronic module. See WIRING DIAGRAMS .
- Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Disconnect DDM 4-pin harness connector C501b. DDM is located behind drive's door panel. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Measure voltage between ground and DDM harness connector C501b terminal No. 4 (Red wire). See Figure . If voltage is 10 volts or more, go to next step. If voltage is less than 10 volts, repair open in circuit between BJB and DDM.
- Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Measure resistance in White wire between driver's power window motor harness connector C524 and DDM harness connector C501b terminal No. 1. Measure resistance in Yellow wire between driver's power window motor harness connector C524 and DDM harness connector C501b terminal No. 2. If both resistances are less than 5 ohms, replace DDM. If either resistances is 5 ohms or more, repair open in appropriate wire between driver's power window motor and DDM.
