Cable Adjustment - Shift Indicator, Column Shift

NOTE: The shift control must be properly adjusted before performing this adjustment.
  1. Remove the key release lever (3F527).
  2. Remove the ignition switch lock cylinder (11582); see STEERING COLUMN .
  3. Remove the upper and lower steering column shrouds (3530).
  4. Position the transaxle range selector lever in the OVERDRIVE position. Hang a 1.4 kg (3 lb) weight on the transaxle range selector lever.
  5. Use the adjustment wheel to adjust the shift cable until the shift indicator completely covers the D and the calibration dot shows no red.
  6. Cycle the range selector lever through all of the positions and check that the shift indicator completely covers the proper letter or number in each position.
  7. Install the upper and lower steering column shrouds.
  8. Install the ignition switch lock cylinder; see STEERING COLUMN .
  9. Install the key release lever.
