Valve Cover LH

  1. Remove the air intake assembly.
  2. Remove the ignition coils. For additional information, refer to IGNITION COIL-ON-PLUG & SPARK PLUG .
    CAUTION: Do not use metal scrapers, wire brushes, power abrasive discs or other abrasive means to clean sealing surfaces. These tools cause scratches and gouges which make leak paths.
  3. Remove the components in the order indicated in the following illustration.
  4. To install, reverse the removal procedure.

Item 5: Valve Cover Installation Note 

    NOTE: If the valve cover is not secured within four minutes, the sealant must be removed and the sealing area cleaned with metal surface cleaner. Allow to dry until there is no sign of wetness, or four minutes, whichever is longer. Failure to follow this procedure can cause future oil leakage.

  1. Apply a minimum of 8 mm (0.32 in) diameter drop of sealant to the front cover gasket intersection.

Item 3: Valve Cover Bolts Installation Note 

  1. Tighten the bolts and studs in the sequence shown to 10 Nm (89 lb-in).
