Power Steering Pump
- Remove the components in the order indicated in the following illustration and table.
- To install, reverse the removal procedure.
- Fill, purge and leak test the system. For additional information, refer to POWER STEERING SYSTEM PURGING and POWER STEERING SYSTEM FILLING .
CAUTION:
Make sure to plug all open hoses, line fittings and fluid ports to prevent the entry of contaminants. Contaminants will cause premature failure of the power steering components.
Item 1: Power Steering Return Line Clamp Removal Note
- Loosen the clamp and disconnect the hose. Drain the fluid into a suitable container.
Item 8: Belt Tensioner Removal Note
- Rotate the tensioner clockwise and remove the belt from the power steering pump pulley.
Item 12 and Item 20: Power Steering Pressure Line Removal Note
- Remove and discard the O rings.
Item 20 and Item 12: Power Steering Pressure Line Installation Note
- Install new seals on the power steering pressure hose. Using the special tool, stretch the seal until it is large enough to slip over the tube nut.
