Engine Support Insulators: Notes

  1. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position on a hoist. For additional information, refer to JACKING & LIFTING .
  2. Disconnect the battery ground cable.
  3. Remove the air cleaner outlet tube. For additional information, refer to INTAKE AIR, FUEL CHARGING, AND ENGINE ELECTRONICS .
  4. Using the special tools, loosen the fan blade and the clutch assembly.

  5. Rotate the tensioner clockwise and remove the accessory drive belt from the generator pulley.

  6. Remove the generator B+ nut and disconnect the electrical connectors.
    • Position the B+ cable cover aside.

  7. Remove the stud bolts, the bolts and the generator bracket.

  8. Loosen the bolts and position the power steering cooler aside.

  9. Remove the cooling fan.
    • Remove the lower fan shroud.
    • Remove the cooling fan and clutch as an assembly from underneath the vehicle.

  10. NOTE: The generator must be removed from underneath the vehicle.

  11. Remove the bolts and the generator.
  12. Remove the two bolts and position the shift cable bracket aside.

  13. Remove the transmission-to-crossmember nuts.

  14. Remove the bolt from the LH motor mount.

  15. Remove the nuts from the RH motor mount (through the wheel well).

  16. Remove the exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) system module and the tube assembly. For additional information, refer to EXHAUST GAS RECIRCULATION (EGR) VALVE .
  17. Install the special tools.

  18. Raise the engine until the insulator can be removed.
  19. Remove the parts in the order indicated in the following illustration and table.

    TO REMOVE INDIVIDUAL PARTS, ONLY CARRY OUT THE LISTED STEPS: 

    ENGINE SUPPORT INSULATORS REMOVAL STEPS

    Part Steps
    4x4 
    Left hand insulator 1-4, 6
    Right hand insulator 5, 7
    4x2 
    Left hand insulator 4, 6
    Right hand insulator 5, 7

  20. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
