Power Steering Pump

SPECIAL TOOLS

Installer Set, Teflon® Seal
211-D027 (D90P-3517-A) or equivalent
CAUTION: While repairing the power steering system, care should be taken to prevent the entry of contaminants or premature failure of the power steering components can result.
  1. Remove the parts in the order indicated in the following illustration and table.

  2. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
  3. Fill and leak check the system. For additional information, refer to POWER STEERING SYSTEM FILLING .

Item 1: Power Steering Return Line Clamp Removal Note 

  1. Loosen the clamp and disconnect the hose. Drain the fluid into a suitable container.

Item 8: Belt Tensioner Removal Note 

  1. Rotate the tensioner clockwise and remove the belt from the power steering pump pulley.

Item 12 and Item 20: Power Steering Pressure Line Removal Note 

    NOTE: Vehicles built before 12/5/03 use a 2-piece line. Vehicles built after 12/5/03 use a 1-piece line. Replacement lines will be the 1-piece type.

  1. Remove and discard the O-ring seals.

Item 20 and Item 12: Power Steering Pressure Line Installation Note 

  1. Install a new Teflon® seal on the power steering pressure hose.
    • Using the special tool, stretch the seal until it is large enough to slip over the tube nut.
