Power Steering Pump
SPECIAL TOOLS
| Installer Set, Teflon® Seal 211-D027 (D90P-3517-A) or equivalent |
CAUTION:
While repairing the power steering system, care should be taken to prevent the entry of contaminants or premature failure of the power steering components can result.
- Remove the parts in the order indicated in the following illustration and table.
- To install, reverse the removal procedure.
- Fill and leak check the system. For additional information, refer to POWER STEERING SYSTEM FILLING .
Item 1: Power Steering Return Line Clamp Removal Note
- Loosen the clamp and disconnect the hose. Drain the fluid into a suitable container.
Item 8: Belt Tensioner Removal Note
- Rotate the tensioner clockwise and remove the belt from the power steering pump pulley.
Item 12 and Item 20: Power Steering Pressure Line Removal Note
- Remove and discard the O-ring seals.
NOTE:
Vehicles built before 12/5/03 use a 2-piece line. Vehicles built after 12/5/03 use a 1-piece line. Replacement lines will be the 1-piece type.
Item 20 and Item 12: Power Steering Pressure Line Installation Note
- Install a new Teflon® seal on the power steering pressure hose.
- Using the special tool, stretch the seal until it is large enough to slip over the tube nut.
