Generator - 3.9L
CAUTION:
The generator must be supported by hand after removing the bolts and prior to disconnecting the electrical connector, or damage to the harness may result.
CAUTION:
Care must be taken when removing the generator to prevent damage to the air conditioning (A/C) and cooling lines.
NOTE:
The A/C suction line may need to be positioned rearward to ease removal of the generator.
- Disconnect the battery. For additional information, refer to BATTERY MOUNTING AND CABLES .
- Rotate the front end accessory drive (FEAD) belt tensioner counterclockwise and position the FEAD belt aside.
- Remove the front valance panel.
- Remove the air deflector.
- Remove the A/C suction line clip from the radiator core support.
- Remove the LH A/C suction line lower bracket bolt and position the bracket rearward.
- To install, tighten to 10 Nm (89 lb-in).
- Remove the generator upper bolt.
- To install, tighten to 21 Nm (15 lb-ft).
- Remove the generator lower nut and bolt.
- To install, tighten to 45 Nm (33 lb-ft).
- Disconnect the generator electrical connector.
- Position the generator B+ wire protective cover aside and remove the generator B+ wire nut and cable end.
- To install, tighten to 8 Nm (71 lb-in).
- Remove the generator.
- Remove the 4 generator bracket bolts.
- To install, tighten to 48 Nm (35 lb-ft).
- Remove the generator bracket.
- To install, reverse the removal procedure.
