Oil Cooler: Removal

  1. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. For additional information, refer to JACKING AND LIFTING .
  2. CAUTION: The cooling system filling and bleeding procedure must be followed exactly or damage to the engine can occur.
  3. Drain the engine cooling system. For additional information, refer to ENGINE COOLING .
  4. Drain the engine oil.
  5. Disconnect the 2 coolant hoses from the oil cooler.
  6. Remove and discard the oil filter and gasket.
  7. CAUTION: If metal or aluminum material is present in the oil cooler, mechanical concerns exist. To diagnose mechanical concerns, refer to ENGINE SYSTEM-GENERAL INFORMATION .
  8. Remove the bolt and the oil cooler.
    • Discard the gasket.
    • Inspect the oil cooler.
