Selector Lever Cable

  1. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. For additional information, refer to JACKING AND LIFTING .
  2. Place the range selector lever in the D5 position.
  3. Disconnect the transmission shift cable eyelet from the selector lever assembly.

  4. Disconnect the shift cable from the bracket.

  5. NOTE: It is not necessary to remove the exhaust.
  6. Remove the screws that retain the heat shield and lower the heat shield onto the exhaust.
    • To install, tighten to 10 Nm (89 lb-in).

  7. Disconnect the transmission selector lever cable retainer.

  8. Remove the transmission selector lever cable.
    1. Disconnect the transmission selector lever cable eyelet from the manual control lever.
    2. Depress the tab and slide the transmission selector lever cable out of the selector lever cable bracket.
    3. Remove the transmission selector lever cable.

  9. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
  10. After installing the selector lever cable, it will be necessary to adjust the selector lever cable. For additional information, refer to SELECTOR LEVER CABLE ADJUSTMENT .
