Edge Selector Lever

All Vehicles 

  1. Apply the parking brake.
  2. Position the selector lever to NEUTRAL.
  3. Position the front seats to the full rearward and downward positions and fully recline the seat backs.
  4. NOTE: MKX shown in illustration, Edge similar.

  5. Remove the LH and RH floor console finish mouldings.

    MKX 

  6. Remove the floor console H-panel.

  7. Pull the LH and RH lower floor console side trim panels outward to release the retaining clips separating the lower side trim panel from the console and the upper side trim panel.
  8. NOTE: Damage to the floor console rear trim panels may occur if cardboard is not used to remove the lower floor console side trim panels.
    NOTE: The RH lower floor console side panel shown in illustration, LH lower floor console side trim panel similar.

  9. Position a piece of cardboard between the LH and RH lower floor console side trim panels and the floor console.
  10. Remove the RH and LH lower floor console side trim panel and cardboard simultaneously.
  11. NOTE: Right side shown in illustration, left side similar.

  12. Remove the LH upper floor console side trim panel.
  13. Remove the RH upper floor console side trim panel. Disconnect the power point electrical connector.
  14. Remove the 8 selector lever trim panel screws.

  15. Disconnect the LH side selector lever trim panel electrical connector.

  16. Disconnect the RH side selector lever trim panel electrical connector.

  17. Carefully, lift up on the selector lever trim panel to gain access to the ambient light and the selector lever boot tabs.

  18. NOTE: Ambient light is located at front of selector lever trim panel.
  19. If equipped, remove the ambient light from the floor console.
    1. Detach the ambient wiring harness from the floor console.
    2. Rotate the ambient light counterclockwise and remove the ambient light from the floor console.

  20. NOTE: There are 2 tabs shown in illustration, 5 tabs total.

  21. Disengage the selector lever boot tabs from the selector lever trim panel and remove the selector lever trim panel.

    Edge 

  22. Pull the LH and RH floor console side trim panels outward to release the retaining clips separating the side trim panels from the console.
  23. NOTE: Damage to the floor console rear trim panels may occur if cardboard is not used to remove the lower floor console side trim panels.
    NOTE: The RH floor console side trim panel shown in illustration, LH floor console side trim panel similar.

  24. Position a piece of cardboard between the LH and RH floor console side trim panels and the floor console.
  25. Remove the RH and LH lower floor console side trim panel and cardboard simultaneously.
  26. Remove the 4 screws from the selector lever trim panel.

  27. Disconnect the LH side selector lever trim panel electrical connector.

  28. Disconnect the RH side selector lever trim panel electrical connector.

  29. Detach selector lever trim panel from floor console to gain access to the ambient light and selector lever boot tabs.
    1. Carefully, lift up the rear of selector trim panel and detach the retaining clip.
    2. Pull the selector lever trim panel rearward and detach the 2 retaining clips.

  30. NOTE: Ambient light is located at front of selector lever trim panel.
  31. If equipped, remove the ambient light from the floor console.
    1. Detach the ambient wiring harness from the floor console.
    2. Rotate the ambient light counterclockwise and remove the ambient light from the floor console.

  33. Disengage the selector lever boot tabs from the selector lever trim panel and remove the selector lever trim panel.

    All vehicles 

  34. Disconnect the selector lever cable from the selector lever.

  35. Remove the selector cable from the selector lever cable bracket.
    • Release the 2 selector cable retaining tabs and pull the selector lever upward.

  36. Disconnect the selector lever electrical connector.

  37. Remove the 4 bolts and the selector lever.
    • To Install, tighten to 5 Nm (44 lb-in).

  38. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
  39. Adjust the selector lever cable. For additional information, refer to SELECTOR LEVER CABLE ADJUSTMENT - 6F35  or SELECTOR LEVER CABLE ADJUSTMENT - 6F50/6F55 .
