Steering Gear Boot: Removal

  1. Remove the tie-rod end. Refer to: Tie Rod End .
  2. NOTE: Count and record the number of turns required to remove the outer tie-rod end jamb nut for reference during installation.

    Remove the tie-rod end jamb nut.

  3. If equipped. Remove the underbody shield bolts and remove the underbody shield.

  4. If equipped. Remove the underbody shield bolts and remove the underbody shield.

  5. NOTE: 4WD shown, RWD similar.

    If equipped.

    1. Remove the forward underbody shield bolts.
    2. Remove the rearward underbody shield bolts and the underbody shield.

    1. Remove and discard the outer steering gear boot clamp.
    2. Remove and discard the inner steering gear boot clamp.

  6. Remove the steering gear boot.
