Throttle Position (TP) Sensor 3.7L Ti-VCT: Installation
- Install the intermediate gear. With the gear teeth aligned, the intermediate gear should slide easily into place.
- Make sure the seal included with the new TP sensor is fully seated within the groove. Make sure the mating surface of the ETB is not scratched or damaged.
-
NOTE: Apply only gentle finger torque to rotate the Throttle Position (TP) sensor rotor. Rotate the TP sensor rotor only in a clockwise direction no more than 180 degrees. If the TP sensor rotor can be turned more than 180 degrees, discard the TP sensor and install a new TP sensor.
If necessary, gently rotate the TP sensor rotor clockwise to correctly orient it so it will align with the throttle shaft tang during assembly.
-
NOTE: Do not force the Throttle Position (TP) sensor onto the throttle shaft tang. Minimal effort is required when correctly installing the TP sensor.
Slowly install the TP sensor on the ETB, making sure the TP sensor rotor slides onto the throttle shaft.
- Align the TP sensor holes with the housing and make sure the TP sensor cover is fully seated with the gasket evenly contacting the ETB.
- Install the 4 bolts and tighten in the sequence shown in 2 stages.
- Stage 1: Finger-tighten.
- Stage 2: Tighten to 2 Nm (18 lb-in).
- Install the ETB. Refer to Fuel Charging and Controls 3-7L Ti-VCT .
