Exhaust Emissions System - Deceleration Control System: Operation: Dashpot

A dashpot is used on some 1977-78 models. The purpose of the dash-pot is to prevent the carburetor throttle valve from closing too rapidly. Dashpot is mounted to act on carburetor linkage to maintain a slightly open position upon rapid deceleration.
