Calif. Vehicles

  1. Remove the air cleaner and connect a tachometer to the engine. Open throttle lever and check that dash pot rod comes out quickly. Release throttle and make sure that it returns slowly to idle position after contacting dash pot.
  2. Start the engine. Slowly increase engine speed and check when the throttle lever just releases from the dash pot rod. Lever should release at 1900-2100 RPM. If the dash pot does not perform as described, loosen lock nut and adjust.
