Reed Valve

  1. Warm up engine to normal operating temperature. Remove air cleaner cover and element. With engine idling, place a piece of paper over the reed valve inlet port and ensure air is sucked in.
  2. Increase engine speed to 1500 RPM and check the exhaust gas leakage at the air inlet fitting by placing a piece of paper over the port. Replace the reed valve if it does not respond as described.
