Altitude COMPENSATOR

Federal vehicles are equipped with an altitude compensator which maintains the air/fuel mixture in the intake manifold. It adds air to carburetor air bleeds when atmospheric pressure drops due to elevation. The altitude compensator also helps govern the operation of the EGR valve.
