  1. Remove air cleaner and connect a tachometer to engine. Operate throttle lever and check that dash pot rod comes out quickly. Release throttle and make sure that it returns slowly to idle position after contacting dash pot.
  2. Start engine. Slowly increase engine speed and check when throttle lever just releases from dash pot rod. Lever should release at 1900-2100 RPM. If the dash pot does not perform as described, loosen lock nut and adjust.
