NOTE:
An additional water thermo valve, having 2 ports, is used on A/T models to control No. 1 EGR control valve.
- Drain radiator until coolant level is below intake manifold. Disconnect vacuum hoses from water thermo valve(s) and remove valve(s) from intake manifold.
- Attach a hose to each port of valve and immerse base of valve in container of water with thermometer. Suspend valve in water so it does not touch container. Gradually heat water and blow into lower vacuum hose.
- Air should pass through valve having only 2 ports, and from lower port through upper port (same side) if 4 port valve, when temperature is 122°F (50°C). Replace valve if it does not respond as outlined.
