Idle Speed

  1. Warm engine to normal operating temperature. Connect tachometer to engine. Idle speed should be 800-850 RPM.
  2. If not to specification, adjust idle speed. First confirm that accelerator cable deflection is within standard limits of .04-.12" (1.0-3.0 mm). If lengthening is necessary, loosen nut of cable bracket and tighten the other nut. See Figure .
  3. To adjust idle speed, loosen the lock nut of idle adjusting bolt. Adjust the speed by turning the idle adjusting bolt. See Figure .
