EGR System - Gasoline: Description
The Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) system is designed to lower air/fuel mixture combustion temperature and reduce formation of oxides of nitrogen (NOx). A metered amount of exhaust gas is introduced into the intake manifold to dilute the air/fuel mixture.
The EGR system consists of an EGR control valve, EGR solenoid valve, EGR modulator valve, EGR thermo valve, ECU, vacuum delay valve (with A/T) and connecting hoses and pipes.
