Altitude COMPENSATOR

Federal vehicles are equipped with an altitude compensator which maintains correct air/fuel mixture in the intake manifold. It adds air to carburetor air bleeds when atmospheric pressure drops due to elevation. An altitude compensator also helps govern operation of EGR valve.
