Component Testing: Dashpot: 626

  1. Remove air cleaner and connect a tachometer to engine. Operate throttle lever and check that dashpot rod comes out quickly. Release throttle and make sure that it returns slowly to idle position after contacting dashpot.
  2. Start engine. Slowly increase engine speed and check when throttle lever just releases from dashpot rod. Lever should release at 1900-2100 RPM. If the dashpot does not perform as described, loosen lock nut and adjust.
