Reed Valve: 626

NOTE: Check air control valve before checking the reed valve.
  1. Warm up engine to normal operating temperature. Run engine at idle. Disconnect and plug vacuum hose from air control valve.
  2. With a vacuum pump attached to the air control valve, apply 20 in. Hg. Check that air is drawn into the air passage. Increase engine speed to 2500 RPM. Check for exhaust gas leakage from air passage. Replace reed valve if leakage is present.
