ROTTING VACUUM TEES

YEAR(S): 1986-87

MANUFACTURER: Mazda

MODELS: 626

ISSUE & TIP

On 1986-87 Mazda 626 models, fuel vapor may rot the vacuum tee under the throttle body. This will cause the vehicle to idle poorly and fail smog tests. The same vacuum circuit runs the air injection air control valve. Remove the intake duct and replace the plastic tee with a metal type tee. I have probably seen this problem 20-25 times in the past two years.
