EGR Control Valve
- Warm engine to normal operating temperature and run engine at idle speed. Disconnect EGR control valve vacuum hose and plug hose.
- Ensure engine idles smoothly. If engine does not idle smoothly, clean exhaust gas passage in EGR valve or replace EGR valve. Before replacing EGR valve, check intake air and control systems.
- Connect a vacuum pump and apply 1.6-2.4 in. Hg to EGR valve. Ensure engine idles rough or stalls at greater than specified vacuum. If engine does not run rough or stall, replace EGR valve or check EGR passage for blockage.
