EGR Position Sensor

  1. Disconnect vacuum hose from EGR valve and connect a vacuum pump. Disconnect EGR position sensor connector. Turn ignition on. Using a voltmeter, check voltage of each terminal. See Fig 1 . See EGR POSITION SENSOR VOLTAGE  table.

  2. If voltage reading is not as specified at terminals "B" and "C", check wiring harness and ECU terminals 1D, 1F, and 1G.
  3. If voltage is not as specified at terminal "A", check wiring harness, ECU, and sensor resistance. Disconnect sensor connector. Using an ohmmeter, check resistance between terminals while applying 6 in. Hg to EGR control valve. Check resistance using EGR POSITION SENSOR RESISTANCE  table.
