Inhibitor Switch (A/T)

  1. Disconnect switch connector. Using an ohmmeter, check for continuity between terminals "A" and "B". See Fig 1 . With shift lever in "N" or "P" range, continuity should be present.
  2. With shift lever in other ranges, continuity should not be present. If ohmmeter readings are not as specified, replace inhibitor switch.
  3. Using Self-Diagnostic Checker (49 H018 9A1), check self diagnostic checker monitor light while moving shift lever. With shifter in "P" or "N" position, monitor light should be off. With shifter in other positions, monitor light should be on. If monitor light does not operate as specified, check ECU terminal 1N and inhibitor switch.
