Purge Solenoid Valve

  1. Warm engine to normal operating temperature and run engine at idle speed. Connect a voltmeter between Yellow/Red terminal and ground.
  2. Connect a tachometer to engine. Increase engine speed to greater than 1400 RPM. Voltmeter should read zero volt. If reading is not as specified, check ECU terminal 1C and coolant temperature sensor. Replace ECU (if necessary).
  3. Disconnect vacuum sensor vacuum hose. Connect a vacuum pump to sensor. With greater than 6 in. Hg applied, voltmeter reading should be 12 volts. If reading is not as specified, check ECU terminal 1C and coolant temperature sensor, ECU terminal 1E and vacuum sensor. If ECU terminals and sensors are good, replace ECU.
