System Inspection: Non-Turbo

  1. Warm engine to normal operating temperature and turn off. Disconnect intake air temperature sensor connector. Connect a 2000-3000 ohm resister to terminals of sensor connector. See Fig 1 .

  2. Connect tachometer and start engine. Check that engine speed is about 800 RPM for 90 seconds and about 750 RPM after 90 seconds.
  3. Turn engine off and disconnect vacuum hose from pressure regulator. See Fig 2 .

  4. Place finger on vacuum hose port and start engine. Check that for 90 seconds air is not pulled into port. After 90 seconds, air should be pulled into port.
