Relief Solenoid Valve (Non-Turbo) Signal Check
- Warm engine to normal operating temperature and let idle. Connect tachometer to engine. Disconnect vacuum hose connecting the relief solenoid valve to air control valve at the relief solenoid valve. Increase engine speed to 1500 RPM while placing a finger over end of port opening.
- Disconnect the throttle sensor connector, checking that air is sucked into the port opening for about 120 seconds, then stops. Decrease engine speed to idle, checking that air is again sucked into the port opening. Air should be sucked in for about 8 seconds.
- Reconnect throttle sensor connector. Increase engine speed to 3400-3600 RPM, checking that air is not sucked into the port opening.
- Disconnect heat hazard sensor connector. attach a jumper wire to connector to terminals of connector leading to the ECU. Check that air is not sucked into the port opening at any engine speed. Disconnect jumper wire and reconnect heat hazard sensor.
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect coolant temperature switch connector located on the radiator. Turn on ignition. Increase engine speed, checking that air is not sucked into port opening when engine speed is more than 1000-1200 RPM.
