Throttle Chamber (Non-Turbo)

  1. The No. 1 secondary throttle valve starts to open when the primary valve opens 12 degrees (man. trans.) or 8 degrees (auto. trans.). See Fig 1 . Secondary throttle valve should be completely open when the primary valve fully opens.
  2. Check the clearance between the primary throttle valve and the wall of the throttle bore when the No. 1 secondary valve starts to open.
  3. Clearance should be .02-.03" (.5-.7 mm) for manual transmission. Clearance should be .03-.06 (.8-.14 mm) for automatic transmission. See Fig 1 . If not, bend the tab until the proper clearance is obtained. See Figure .
