Knock Control System

  1. With engine at normal operating temperature, check ignition timing. Ensure voltage at ECU connector terminal No. 1U is approximately 12 volts.
  2. Disconnect single wire service connector at ECU. Tap engine hanger and note ignition timing. If timing does not retard, replace knock sensor and retest.
  3. If timing retards, connect single wire service connector and retest. If timing retards, replace knock control unit. If timing does not, system is okay.
