Deceleration Control System: Dashpot

  1. Quickly move throttle lever. Verify dashpot rod comes out quickly and to its full stroke accompanying movement of throttle lever. See Figure . Release throttle lever and verify lever returns slowly to idle position after contacting dashpot rod.
  2. If dashpot requires adjustment, warm up engine and run at idle. Connect a tachometer. Slowly increase engine speed. Verify throttle lever separates from dashpot rod at 1900-2100 RPM. To adjust, loosen dashpot locknut and turn dashpot.
