EGR Position Sensor Test

  1. Disconnect vacuum hose from EGR valve and connect vacuum pump. Disconnect EGR position sensor connector. Turn ignition on. Check voltage of each terminal. See Figure . See EGR POSITION SENSOR VOLTAGE table.
  2. If voltage reading is not as specified at terminals "B" and "C", check wiring harness and ECU terminals "1D", "1F", and "1G". See PIN VOLTAGE CHART S and SENSOR RANGE CHARTS articles.
  3. If voltage is not as specified at terminal "A", check wiring harness and ECU. Disconnect sensor connector. Using an ohmmeter, check resistance between sensor terminals while applying 6 in. Hg to EGR control valve. See EGR POSITION SENSOR RESISTANCE table.
