Continuity Test

  1. Disconnect stoplight switch connector. On Miata, using a DVOM, check continuity between White/Green wire and Green wire with brake pedal depressed. On 929, using a DVOM, check continuity between Green/Yellow wire and White/Green wire with brake pedal depressed. Ensure continuity exists. Release pedal, and note reading on DVOM. Continuity should not be present.
  2. If continuity is not as specified, check STOP fuse and wiring harness. Check wiring harness between stoplight switch and control unit. Repair or replace if necessary. If fuse and wiring harness are okay, replace switch.
