Test No. 1

  1. Check wiring harness and connectors. Ensure all connections are clean and tight. If no problems are found, go to next step. If problems are found, repair wiring and connections as necessary. Retest system operation.
  2. Connect New Generation Star (NGS) tester to Data Link Connector (DLC). DLC is located under left side of instrument panel, next to steering column. Following NGS tester manufacturer's instructions, retrieve continuous DTCs. Perform ON-DEMAND SELF-TEST. If no DTC exists, repair open Orange/White wire between Generic Electronic Module (GEM) and driver's window motor. GEM is located behind center of instrument panel. Retest system. If DTC(s) exist, perform the following:
    • If DTC B1398 (continuous and self-test) exists, go to next step.
    • If DTC B1400 (continuous and self-test) and DTC B1475 (self- test) exist, repair short to battery voltage in Yellow/Red wire between GEM and one-touch module. One-touch module is located under instrument panel to the right of steering column.
    • If DTC B1404 (continuous) exists, repair open in Tan/Light Blue wire between GEM down window command input and splice to master window regulator control switch one-touch module.
    • If DTC B1410 (continuous) exists, go to step 5).
  3. Using NGS tester, read PID LFPWRLY. If tester does not indicate Off O-G, go to next step. If tester indicates Off O-G, repair Yellow/Red wire between GEM 18-pin connector and one-touch down module.
  4. Check Light Blue/Black wire between one-touch module and power window master control switch for open circuit. If open circuit is found, repair wire as necessary. If wire is good, replace one-touch module. Retest system.
  5. Disconnect negative battery cable. Check Gray wire between GEM 18-pin connector and driver's power window motor. If open circuit is found, repair wire as necessary. If wire is good, check for possible intermittent condition. Retest system.
